(n.) Mental calmness, composure, and evenness of mind especially under stress.
Equanimity in yoga and meditation is a balanced state of mind where you remain calm and steady amidst both pleasant and unpleasant experiences. It reflects an inner steadiness that allows awareness to observe thoughts, emotions, and sensations without attachment or aversion.
Exploring equanimity involves observing experiences without clinging to pleasure or resisting discomfort, allowing events to come and go without disturbing your inner balance. Practising mindfulness, reflecting on impermanence, and embracing acceptance are common ways to deepen equanimity.
