Exploring Equanimity

e-qua-nim-i-ty /ēkwǝnimitē/

(n.) Mental calmness, composure, and evenness of mind especially under stress.

Equanimity in yoga and meditation is a balanced state of mind where you remain calm and steady amidst both pleasant and unpleasant experiences. It reflects an inner steadiness that allows awareness to observe thoughts, emotions, and sensations without attachment or aversion.

Exploring equanimity involves observing experiences without clinging to pleasure or resisting discomfort, allowing events to come and go without disturbing your inner balance. Practising mindfulness, reflecting on impermanence, and embracing acceptance are common ways to deepen equanimity.

Acknowledging Country & Culture

I recognise the continuous and deep connection to Country, of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the first peoples of this nation.
I respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of these lands, waters, sea and sky, the Wardandi Noongar people.
I pay tribute to the Elders past and present and respect the collective ancestry that has brought us all here today.
I acknowledge the teachers, mentors, and lineages that have shaped the practice of yoga that originates from the country that we know today as India.
I am grateful to be practising and sharing yoga on Country.
