“Each person’s life is like a mandala – a vast limitless circle. We stand in the centre of our own circle,
and everything we see, hear and think forms the mandala of our life.”
Pema Chodron

Welcome to the Mandala Book Club, a sacred circle to enlighten the mind. I chose this name for the book club as mandalas symbolise wisdom, personal growth and connectedness. My intention for this book club is to create an online community of like-minded individuals interested in reading and discussing books that relate to the practice and philosophy of yoga, mindfulness and well being.

One of the five Niyamas is Svadhyaya, self study or education of the self. Reading sacred and inspirational books can be part of your daily practice of yoga. You are invited to participate in this book club if you are a yoga teacher or an individual interested in reading and discussing yogic philosophy or yoga related books.

If you are interested to join register via this website and/or join the close Facebook group here. You can add book club suggestions, vote in the poll for the next book to read and discuss and find the next book club event on Zoom. Book club gatherings are online via Zoom and always on a Tuesday 6.30pm at AWST as I am based in Western Australia. The discussions are recorded and posted to the website and Facebook group if you cannot attend live.

Continuing Professional Development for Yoga Teachers.

For Yoga Australia members reading yoga related books and participating in a yoga book club can also be used for accruing CPD points. Reading and participating in a yoga book club is considered personal research so a yoga teacher needs to keep a summary of material read, preferably with ideas re application of learning drawn from the research. For books that are core to yoga, participants will gain 1 point for every 2 hours of reading. For books that are related to yoga participants will gain 1 point for every 4 hours of reading. Participating in the book club will attract points in a similar way with books core to yoga it is 1 point for every hour of the session and for books related to yoga it is 1 point for every 2 hours of the session. For more information on the CPD visit the Yoga Australia website by clicking on their logo.
